brooklyn's colosseum
We can hardly find structures as multifunctional as ancient amphitheatres. Most of them have served as an epicentre of public spectacles, housing, workshops, fortress or even religious shrines for centuries. However, the challenge of the modern era lies in the ability of arenas to offer as most functions as possible in real-time.
Brooklyn’s Colosseum, inspired by time-tested schemes, adapted to contemporary environment covers provision of services and facilities for various events, residential area, multipurpose spaces with shops and restaurants, parking and the most important – huge area of public space, at the same time. Using old shipping containers and universal retractable seating system creates sustainable and flexible base not only for World Cup.
