The instructions were clear: “We need two extra bedrooms for the kids, don’t touch any of the supporting walls, nor the construction openings on the façade.

An extension can only be built on the area of the current terrace."  The only way of doing this was to move the bathroom to the centre of the building and “glue” the rest of the rooms around it.

This created two clearly defined spaces: the common zone (living room and a kitchen with access to the terrace) and the intimate zone that worked independently, whether it came to the construction work or its operation. All the requirements were met without a compromise or any painful blows to the statics of the house, even though the interior arrangement has changed tremendously. The new interior contains furniture that is custom made to fit the new space and covered in oak veneer from a local carpenter.
