The final concept and layout of the project were strongly shaped by two key factors: the gently sloping terrain and the investor’s vision of living in a modern interpretation of a ziggurat inspired by the ancient Babylonians and Assyrians

Instead of the conventional separation into floors, the house is organised into three interconnected levels, linked by a single shallow staircase that follows the natural slope of the terrain.

This type of ‘Raumplan’ (spatial arrangement) allows the building to sit naturally on the terrain without requiring any drastic interventions, preserving the character of the existing landscape.

The composition of the interconnected volumes ultimately forms a rectangular, terraced mound reminiscent of a ziggurat. This contemporary interpretation, however, is designed to be far more user-friendly than its ancient predecessors, built over four thousand years ago.
